The Soldier and other Stories is a collection of 13 short stories, written around 2018 as I recovered from a serious illness. They were inspired by my love of obscure history, politics, science, dogs and Salford, the City of my birth. It is a place unlike anywhere else, a hive of crime, villainy, dignity, honour, and unbreakable spirit.
My stories are often centered around the ugly truth of human nature, a feature so missing from popular fiction that I often wonder if most people have never seen it. If that is true, I envy them that luxury, and hope that a glimpse into the soulless nature of man is not disturbing to innocent readers.
